Ta!
8 July 2005
Thanx for all the lovely feedback, shiny, zzappy people!
It looks like The DEF Tribute to Zzap!64 takes 'Retroland' by storm, and almost everyone is very pleased and enthusiastic.
So far, I'm particularly pleased with positive feedback from the original publisher Roger Kean, and Gary Liddon. (see picture)
It seems to be difficult in some place to get hold of RG18 together with the DEF Tribute to Zzap!64, I'd say keep trying, copies *should* be available at every WHSmith newsagent.
Otherwise contact Live Publishing, or use the banner below to order it (wherever you are) for free. (you only pay a reasonable amount of p&p)
Enjoy the magazine, and let us know what you think!
All the best,
Rob

It's a bit surreal for me.
But after working very hard (in my spare time) for months and months, it's a privilege to announce the upcoming launch of:
The DEF Tribute to Zzap!64
I'm very happy and proud that Retro Gamer was interested in having the magazine I created, (with the help from a lot of other shiny, Zzappy people - I hasten to add) and were willing to do a full print run of this 64 page full colour special! Even bundling it with their upcoming August issue (issue 18, or volume 2 -number six) available in the first week of July!
Please do note that The DEF Tribute is only available for subscribers and at WHSmith newsagents in the UK.
Everyone else have to wait for the release of the PDF, probably launched at the end of this summer through this site and www.zzap64.co.uk.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
RETRO GAMER ZZAPS BACK TO THE FUTURE!
June 24 2005 - A tribute to Zzap!64, one of the best-loved computer magazines of the 1980s, is to be given away with the August issue of Retro Gamer.
The DEF Tribute to Zzap!64 celebrates the magazine's 20th anniversary and features classic Commodore 64 reviews, developer interviews and articles looking back at Zzap's illustrious past. Edited by Rob de Voogd (webmaster of www.zzapback.com), the full-colour, 64-page tribute includes contributions from Roger Kean, Gary Penn, Chris Anderson, Steve Jarratt, Gary Liddon, Gordon Houghton and many other former members of the Zzap team. There's also a selection of exclusive artwork from famed Newsfield illustrator Oli Frey.
"Zzap!64 was perhaps the greatest computer magazine of its era, and the DEF Tribute celebrates its 20th anniversary in fine style," said Retro Gamer Editor Martyn Carroll. "It's over 11 years since the last issue of Zzap appeared on shop shelves, so we're absolutely thrilled to be bringing it back after all this time."
Retro Gamer issue 18 will be available from Thursday 7 July. Subscribers to the magazine will receive the DEF Tribute, and it will also be given away with all copies of Retro Gamer sold in the WHSmiths chain of newsagents (where the magazine is on special promotion).

Extra! Extra! Read all about it!
After one year of brainstorming and six months of (part-time) work it's almost finished: THE DEF GUIDE TO ZZAP!64, celebrating the mag, the people creating it and its huge popularity since May 1985.
Yup, that's exactly 20 years! (next munf)
After the enormous succes of Zzap!64 issue 107 (+/-10.000 downloads, 202 printed copies, mentioned in Edge, Games TM, Retro Gamer and on the coverdisc of an Australian computer mag), created by Gazunta, Gordon Houghton, Craig Grannell and a team of Zzap enthusiasts,
there were plans for #108, but these were postponed, and at the moment the project is declared 'dead'.
But how could we possibly let this opportunity pass, and NOT pay tribute to the best computergames magazine ever: ZZAP!64??
For that reason, we're going to salute the excellent mag that Zzap!64 was and is, and
the excellent people behind the mag and the company. A team of Zzap
enthusiasts worked hard to celebrate its 20 year anniversary with a
special magazine: The DEF tribute to Zzap!64.
This pdf (lo-res)72 dpi(hi-res) 225 dpi will give you a glimpse of what you can expect from this Zzap!64 Special. Spread the word!
Soon, the real thing will be published as a downloadable pdf for all fans and
nostalgia seekers on-line and a-live.
So check back regularly.
Until then, be patient fellow Zzapperoni! :)
Best, Mr.Zzapback
