The World Of Teolin Description

The world of Teolin is a large watery world with thousands of Islands. We have been able to visit but a few on our long journey's. We have found little or no maps and our mapping skills are not flawless either. Therefore you will not find many a map here.
We will tell you about the places we visit and we try to stick to the general grouping we have seen used most often. The people of Teolin recognize five areas on their world. They know their idea is arbitrary, as Teolin is a round globe, but still they talk about the center or central area. Looking from this central area, they have a northern region, southern region, a eastern region and a western region.
We felt it was best to stick to this grouping as well. On this page you will find only some general directions on where to look for very famous places.
Besides this generic island information, we have also found it particularly important to give you a place where to find information about guilds, orders and such organizations. You find this under the heading Orders/Guilds

General economical knowledge about Teolin

We found that most islands do use a monetary system and the most important coin seems to be the gold coin. We have also seen silver pieces and copper pieces.
The only thing to keep in mind is that prices can be strange, not because your coins are perceived differently, but because islands can often have some commodities in a lavish supply, where others may be very rare.
This is the reason that most of Teolins seas are scattered with trading ships. Some rumors speak about wizards and sorcerers in the eastern parts of Teolin, that have taken over trade, because they outrun the ships with their flying carpets.

On most islands, you will find no open shops on Devo-priem, the first day of the week. This is a holy day for most gods and they seem not to like trading.
Most upper class people and shopkeepers take the day of on the fourth day (Libr-oct), so trade is slow on that day as well.
A final word of warning to the rogues. We know that Sou-d-oct seems a great day to do business, however most markets are extremely well guarded and it is not always visible or present guards who are out to catch a rogue. One should remember that the penalty for stealing on Sou-d-oct is doubled, but so is the price for catching a thief.

Important and fun places to travel to

Teolin is a world made up of islands and many many many miles of seas, oceans and other watery places. This is the reason that most travel is actually done by ship. Knowledge about swimming and ships is therefore quite valuable in this world.

We found that Mercantie was not a fun place to go, but then, we are not interested in politics. However this island also is a center of trade and many many people gather here. There always are people looking for bold adventurers, so....
If you are looking for a new ship and have enough money to spend, you should surely travel to Vargland.
Yet another important trade comunity is the free city of Hamlock. Here you can buy nearly as many strange goods as in Mercantie itself.
