Island of Kivarolan

This medium-sized island is home to many elves. The two large bays that divide the island separate two different groups of elves. We have been to the south-east part most, as the high elves that live there have set up an incredible university that gathers an amount of knowledge which is utterly incredible.
Next to that, it is also next to inaccessible for those that are not elves....
The island itself measures around 100 by 50 miles, making it one of the larger ones in the area.

Movement

Roads are hard to find on Kivarolan, so it is hard to say how long it would take you to travel from north to south, let alone from east to west. If you want to travel that distance, even the elves take to the sea.

Geology of Kivarolan

The island is sort of rectangular, but two large bays divide it into two distinct sections. Next to the northern bay, you will find a small very rocky island Kinan, that currently is uninhabited.
At the end of these natural harbors, you find three rather small normal villages, but the rest of the island is covered in trees only.

Political situation

Some say elves invented democracy and they sure have invented the even temper. The northern half of the island has a druidic organization and is regarded to be a separate state from the south, where a democratic approach has been taken.
Is the south entirely democratic then, no the council is presided by a king that has been appointed until he releases his duties to a heir.

Crime and Justice

The tendency of elves to be good and the fact that they are not easy provoke, leads to a situation where little crime exists. The crimes that are committed are not left unattended.

Magic

Divine magic from any god that is at least sort of neutral or chaotic and not evil is regarded as a normal fact of everyday life.
Arcane magic used by wizards is highly regarded and bards are always welcomed in Elven lands. The arcane magic of sorcerers is regarded with a bit more superstition, although it is not easy to anger any elf.

Revered gods

On the north-west part of the island Artemis and Obad-Hai are rather popular, but on the south-western part of the island, you will find more followers of Apollo.

Main population

The north-west part of the island is inhabited by wood-elves that mainly follow Artemis, although some of them follow Obad-Hai.
Many of these are rangers or druids and a large community of druids is found at the south-west corner, just north of the singing mountains.

The south-east side of the island is inhabited by high-elves that live centered around the university of Gartilian, which you will find in the outer south-east corner of the island.

Economy

Ships do sail from and to Kivarolan, but what this island trades is unknown. They do import books and export knowledge, but that is just about it.

Map of the islands

The map here is but a small version. We suggest you save the larger version that you will get to see when you click on the image. Especially when your goal is to use the map in your further exploration.
