Island of Harsalo

What can we say about the smooth rolling hills at the western end of the central area of Teolin? Not many a adventurer did we meet there among the Halflings and Hobbits that inhabit this green oasis.
We have never been able to even arouse any other emotion there then joy for the visitors or suspicion about the taller of our company. But in the end there always seemed to be a party to celebrate the coming of friends and many a friend you can make on this island that measures around 85 by 25 miles and is shaped almost like a crescent moon.

Geological situation

Harsalo is an island that consists of nice meadows that are lined with rolling hills. The ridges of rolling hills are the main living areas, though there is only one area you might consider calling a city.
The majority of the houses is build right into the hills. Since there are no mountain ridges protecting the island against the storms that drift in from the seas, this is the best way.

Political situation

There seem to be a important family on the island that sort of rules Harsalo. However, most discussions are simply settled over a good meal.
The most important event that takes place every two years is the election of the ambassador for the great council at Mercantie. Well in the end it is not that interesting either, as there are two family's that always provide a candidate. If this year the Brandybuck's win the election, then next time it will be the Tooks and vice versa.

Magic

The shy people of Harsalo seem to posses no magical powers, other then the ones derived from objects. We have heard about wizards and sorcerers that regularly (or less regularly) visit the island, but their magic seems to be used for fun only.
Nobody seems to care much about the use of magic, but it is clear that this is not a island to throw around your magic....

Revered gods

Most inhabitants of Harsalo revere Yondalla, but there are also groups of followers of Tyche that inhabit these regions.
In the south there seem to be more followers of Tyche, but it is hard to tell, as they often share temples.

Main population

The population of Harsalo has equal shares of Halflings and Hobbits. Some even claim that there is no real difference between these groups. Well, those that claim to be Hobbits, typically follow the Took clan, those who claim to be Halflings follow the Brandybuck clan.
Most of them don't seem to care...

Map of the islands
