Geliandar

Not much have we been able to find out about Geliandar. The Druids and Rangers residing there would not let us visit the island, so what can we tell you?
Well oke, we have seen it from a distance and we know that if storms rage, ships are allowed to seek shelter in either one of its three ports. However, the crew will not be encouraged to leave their ship. We were not even allowed to enter the port, as the day was a bright and sunny one.
Sailing past the island, the captain of our vessel told us that Geliandar is a pretty much round island, that measures about 45 miles across.

Movement

To give a rough idea of the size of the island, here are some guidelines as to how long it takes to reach the other side of the island, provided you had a flat road to travel the distance. (all figures are rounded up).
Light horse : one day, Walking : two days, Heavy horse : two days, Cart or Wagon : three days.

Geological situation

Geliandar is the clear relic of a old volcano. In the middle of the island you see the large cone still rising up extremely high. So high the top of the mountain Golar is always covered in clouds and when it is not, you see snow and ice gathered there.
Fanning out from this central cone, is a large flat area, that is covered in woods mainly. One would expect that such an island gently slopes of into sea, but that is not true, the flat land suddenly ends and then drops for at least 200 feet straight down. It is as if Obad-Hai took the island once it was finished and ripped it from its foundation, to place it on the world about 300 feet above the place it used to sit.
In the very face of these cliffs, stone steps have been hewn near the three ports of Geliandar. The three ports all look alike and have a really small village sitting just behind a slap of rock that juts out into see. In each port there is room to moor four ships. Of these four places, two are reserved for the ships of the inhabitants of Geliandar.

Political situation

As Geliandar is a community of followers of Obad-Hai, there seems to be a Druidic like political situation, where once every year on the day first day of Prin-Tam the oldest and wisest of Druids and Rangers gather to choose a new council. The council is lead by a druid of at least 18th level and he receives help and guidance of two helpers, a Druid and a Ranger, both of at least 17th level. All three of these are devoted followers of Obad-Hai.
Each one of the three has the right to make choices concerning the well being of the community on Geliandar and does not leave the island during the year of their rule. In the recorded history, it has happened once only that a person was chosen into this council twice.

Magic

Any magic effect not created by a prayer to Obad-Hai is considered a heresy. Punishment usually is swift and clear. We have not heard tales of people who have used other magic and left the island.

Revered gods

One god only is revered on Geliandar and that is the nature god Obad Hai. Any person not totally devoted to this god, will not be allowed entrance to the island.

Main population

Any follower of Obad-Hai is welcome to come and live on the island. Not many children are born here, as most followers do not stay here that long. Often people just come here to spend a couple of months to train or to teach others. To gather their strength, to live a simple life for a while, to meditate and any other reason you could find to leave society for a while.
Most visitors are Rangers and Druids, but the occasional Cleric is welcomed just the same.

General

Not much is known about the island of Geliandar. How many and which villages you find there is not known. We know there are just a few shrines for Obad-Hai, but there are many places where his followers gather around oak trees to say his praise or to gain practical or other knowledge.
Roads are few and it is said that no person is allowed to climb mount Golar above a certain point. People only climb further to go to the last portal. The last portal being a temple where Druids and Rangers go to start their last journey.
