Legal stuff

On our journey, we have gathered lots of material and we also have build some of our knowledge on other sources. Therefore we feel it is quite important to tell you how to think about the copyright laws and the way you use our information.

This world is designed around the material that is provided by The Wizards of the Coast. On this website you will find little or no references that have been taken straight out of their books, though their ideas have helped form this world.
You will find that we stick closely to the Dungeons & Dragons third edition material that has been set up around the D20 system.

We would strongly recommend that you at least take notice of what has been said in their books, the Players Handbook for players and the Dungeon Master Guide and the Monsters Manual for the Dungeon Master. Furthermore we recommend you get a copy of Deities and Demigods.

As Teolin is a world with lots of water, having this source material may make life a great deal easier.

There is debate going on about the fact if this world should actually comply with the open gaming license that Wizards of the Coast has published. We currently feel that the way we distribute this world, there is no solid reason to go through the hassle of getting all that paper work done. After all, we don't sell the world of Teolin. We don't even want to. If you want to contribute to our cause in any way, we prefer you submit content to the people maintaining this site. If it is money you want to send us, please find a foundation who raises blind-guide dogs. In the Netherlands we have the KNGF for example. Please send your donation to them.
To come back to the open game license. As far as we know, we sort of comply with the regulations, as we do copy some very basic material, but on every page, the major part of the information is new, or at least new as far as we know.

Well then lets set up a little statement about how we hope you would use this world:
Anything on this site may be reproduced and distributed however you see fit, provided you maintain a reference to the source of the material (The Teolin Setting and Ylorea's Adventuring). Furthermore we ask that you will not charge any money or service in return for such distribution, not even a reasonable fee for making the content available. After all, we did not charge you for downloading the information from the internet either.

If you download this material and alter it, you are only allowed to distribute it in a small circle like for instance a player group.
On the other hand if you expand on the available material, or the idea of Teolin, we feel that we have no claim on your expansion. We only ask that you will keep making clear to people that the original idea was ours and that part of the material has our copyrights on it.

Leaves us with one last very important aspect to tell you: Happy gaming

Some of you might feel that the work we put in deserves some form of remuneration. Well, we don't feel that way, still if you feel because you are using our material, you should pay for this, we strongly encourage you to make a donation to a worthy cause.
If you ask us, what is a worthy cause, we would tell you: A blind-guide dog organization. In just about any country you will find one these days, here in then Netherlands, we have "Het KNGF". If you want to learn more about them, hit the banner below. (Mind you, it is a Dutch site).
