Ryujin

People often refer to Ryujin as "the sea-king", "the luminous being" or sometimes "bringer of magic" is one of the most powerful gods of the south. Protector of all who dwell in the seas and those who travel on it.
Ryujin is known to often leave his palace Ryugu to swing the balance of power in the direction he sees fit. Even though he is a greater deity, he seems to spend more time on Teolin as any other god.
His followers are found among all races, but few are the clerics or other magic users that revere him. His ideas are advocated by adepts mainly.

Ryujin is a mighty dragon that has risen to the status of a Deity. Due to the huge number of followers he has amassed, he even kept rising in those ranks and now is considered a greater Deity.
The reason there still are tales about the times Ryujin was a normal dragon, is not because it is such a short time ago he aspired to godhood, but tales live longer in the south...
For those seeking the favor of a god, Ryujin is very approachable compared to many of the gods of the other regions. Many a time Ryujin is inclined to grant favors to lesser, but honorable people. In this aspect it is important to realize that Ryujin keeps the status of people in the living world as a measure to the favors one can command. The tide jewels for instance will never be used for someone who is not of noble birth and will never be given to a person not from a royal family.
Humanity and the other races have much to say praise to Ryujin. He is said to be the god who taught them how to read and write and how to harness the power of arcane magic.

    Holy grounds
Ryujin's palace (Ryugu) is located below the waves of the sea. There fore it should not be a surprise that most of his temples are found near the sea and ocean shores.
Besides these temples, the richer families that have a family shrine, will revere Ryujin there. A statue of his will then be found close to a small stream of water that runs through this shrine.

The aquatic elves and other dwellers of the sea who revere Ryujin, most often do this in temples that have been build on rather large rafts. (some times more then 150 ft. by 150 ft.) The services here will last no longer then one hour, to accommodate for the ones that will start to drown when out of the water for a longer duration.
The magic of Ryujin will (normally) protect these rafts from the raw forces of high winds and crushing waves.

    Attending services
The few divine magic users that have chosen Ryujin as their primary deity have to attend service every third week. This is independent of their level.
Once they reach third level, they are allowed to lead services in his honor, which counts against the services they need to attend. However at least once every three months they still need to be not the leader of the service.
