Many people seem to revere Irtolie. Some would not consider him a greater deity, but think of him as a over god or a super god. What ever is the truth, who are we to judge what is right and wrong in the world of the gods?
People in the street talk of Irtolie as "The judge". Most people think that gods do batter and argue, but that not even gods in their right mind dispute the rulings of him.
Irtolie is a god that does not meddle much with everyday life. For him the most import aspects of life are that one follows the law and if there is no law or rule to follow, that the choices one makes are just choices.
It is true that Irtolie is often called upon when disputes are at hand, but as most people know that Irtolie will not come down from his position to sort out the problem, often people turn to the temples of Irtolie to find a cleric who then rules. Such rulings will be acceptable on most any known Island of Irtolie, if made by a cleric of at least two levels higher as the highest rank of the plaintives.
Holy grounds
Irtolie is revered in temples that are found in most villages and towns. Typically such a temple will have some housing attached to it, where you will find at least twice as many beds as clerics. Clerics typically are assigned to temples in their home lands, although they tend to travel to a seminar on an other island to learn the tricks of the trade.
In small villages, you will often find that the temples of Irtolie give shelter to clerics of any non-evil god. These other clerics are usually allowed to celebrate their services to their own gods in the temples of Irtolie.
For small villages, this is a very practical way to be able to support for multiple different faiths.
Attending services
People that do not ask for the favors of Irtolie, do not need to worry about attending services.
Users of Devine magic who call upon Irtolie are required to attend services on a regular basis. For any non cleric that means they have to attend service at least every three weeks.
All clerics of Irtolie need to attend service at least every two weeks. When a cleric reaches third level, he/she is required to assist in a service at least once every four weeks. When a cleric reaches seventh level he/she is required to lead a service at least once every six weeks, but the requirement to assist, may be ignored. At tenth level, a cleric needs to lead a service at least every three weeks, while at level fifteen, a service only counts as a lead service if at least thirty people attend.
