There is not a "real" breed standard of these dogs because Indian dogs are re-created with mixed breeds but this picture shows a perfect size of an Indian dog. An Indian dog is a medium sized dog with a very natural look. Indian dogs come in a wide range of colors. They are sensitive and intelligent and are a friend for life. Because some of them have part coyote in their ancestors they still have some primitive instincts.
Indian Dogs use a very extensive bodylanguage and do show this very often. These pictures are taken while a group of Indian dogs play together and there has been no fight at all. It is just communications between the dogs by showing what they want and not want. The picture with showing teeth and tongue show that she is insecure by the situation. They also make a lot of noise while they play.
Submissive behaviour is very important for a dog to avoid conflicts and pups must always show submissive behaviour to an older dog. If not they will mostly be corrected by the older dog with a bite or snarl. When pups are in the litter or are still young they already play these games of submissive and dominant behaviour.
Indian Dogs do need lots of exercise and you have to walk at least one hour every day. They love to run and this way they can get rit of their energy. If you don't have time to give them all the exercise an attention they need please do not try to get one.
Indian dogs love to "talk" and often they give comment on things they like or see. Some also do howl and this can be difficult when they must be left alone. Do start to learn this at a very young age and only leave them for a couple of hours.
Some of the Indian dogs can be aloof with strangers. Encourage them but never force them into things they don't want. They might need some more time with unknown surroundings but will adjust after some time.
Most Indian dogs are crazy about water. They do not all really swim but they love to run and play in the water. And there is not more fun then watching a group of Indian dogs running and playing at the sea.
