2,5 years ago we were travelling for 7 months
through China, Indonesia, Australia and Zimbabwe. It was an incredible
time and we enjoyed the landscapes, for us unknown animals, different cultures
and we met a lot of friendly people. Every country had it's own specialty
and beauty and there was one thing we really enjoyed.........
In Australia we bought a car and we drove
through this enormous landscape for over two months. We loved the independence,
our "own" place and the possibility of visiting places no one had ever
been. Now we see, this experience during our last trip, is basically thé
reason why we choose for this next adventure. We wanted to combine the
great possibilities of travelling by car and the beauty of Africa. So we
came up with this idea.
It seemed to be a great challenge to travel
from our home country, The Netherlands, to South Africa. All the way overland,
in our own 4 Wheel Drive. We came up with this idea almost two years ago.
Now, a lot of time, a lot of research and information further on, we know
it's even a greater challenge as we expected it to be in the first place.
Nevertheless... we're going to take this
challenge!
It's very hard to make a plan for all the
needed preparations beforehand. We do try really hard and one of the main
things we want to plan before we leave, is the route we want to drive from
north to south Africa. Underneath we want to show you the route we planned
to take during our journey.
At the moment we are
325 days
on our African Way and we are in:
The Netherlands
