The
BB&Q Band was a concept of Jacques Fred Petrus, who also produced
for Change, High Fashion, Zinc and the Ritchie Family. BB&Q
Band Productions in the earlier years were made by him and Mauro
Malavasi.
In
1981Jacques Fred Petrus signed the BB&Q Band with Capitol, “On The
Beat” being the debut release and a UK Top 50 dance hit. Other knows
songs are “Time For Love” and “Starlette”.
Their
second album called “All Night Long” featured a further dance hit
called “ “Imagination”, written by Kae Williams (of Breakwater)
with guest vocals by Rick Brenna. Other uptempo songs were “All Night
Long (She’s Got The Moves I Like)”, “Children Of The Night”,
“Hard To Get Around” and “Hanging Out”.

Million Times”. It didn’t bring as much succes as the former albums
or their 1985 album however the songs “Stay”, “We’ve Got To Do
It” and “Six Million Times” are great uptempo Funk. In 1984 Mauro
Malavasi left the BB&Q Band.
In
1985 the BB&Q Band was signed to Elektra Records and Kae Williams
wrote, arranged and produced “Genie” which featured UK Top 40 hits
in the title track and “Dreamer”. Another single “Ricochet” was
released by Cooltempo / Chrysalis in 1987 (UK Top 75). Other known songs
are “Main Attraction”, “Won’t You Be With Me Tonight” and
“On The Shelf”. Unfortunately Jacques
Fred Petrus was murdered in 1987 at the airport of Guadeloupe. Little is
known about the mysterious circumstances of his death.
