Beachlife in Hua Hin

Beachlife Hua Hin. Three hours south of Bangkok. It bears great resemblance with other great beachresorts such as Lloret de Mar in Spain or Kusadasi in Turkey. You have a beach and you have streets filled with bars and prostitutes. Our guesthouse was situated at the end of "Trouble street". To get there you had to fight of hookers and transvestites who were desperately crying out for your attention (and dollars). What the hell were we doing here?, I thought to my self baking in the hot sun. In a moment of complete boredom I looked down the beach to see Shannon and Mary-Jane. After our night with Kaew (the owner of the "Christmas bar") they asked where we went to and they followed us down to Hua Hin. A nice surprise.
Say 'Cheese'
For two days we lay on the beach. At night we looked for a place less sordid than "Trouble street". On this quest for good family values we noticed that the streets were filled with cockroaches. They jumped in front of your feet with every step you took. It seemed appropriate that the only time we saw roaches it was in Hua Hin.
Half of the town was flooded. By now the nuisance of the rains was becoming apparant. In Bangkok our guesthouse was flooded by the time we woke up and in Hua Hin the situation was even worse. Highlight of our sojourn on the beach was the place where a band played oldies but goldies. At the end of the night Shannon got on stage to sing a duet with the transvestite singer. Celine Dion's theme from "Titanic" never sounded so good to me. Een aangespoelde Firaat
We said goodbye to the girls. A special grouppicture was taken in front of the "Dutch Sandwich Shop" across our guesthouse. They went further down south and we had a plane to catch to Cambodia...
