| The first castle we "did" was Chenonceau. Because it was near the campsite and because it was a "must see" according to many a travel guide. Well... tastes differ. Ofcourse it's not bad, but it is a little to fancy pancy for my taste. Build in the early 16th century, this building was mainly used for parties and adultery. Francois the First kept his mistress Diane here and she "build" this garden. The wife of Francois didn't like it so she build a garden on the other side of the castle. When Francois died, Diane was kicked out and Catharine started wearing black only.
