SETTINGS NETSCAPE

(download from channels.netscape.com/ns/browsers/)

You can normally use the search-bar in the Netscape menu when you open Netscape, but don't
use the "search"-button to search, cause Netscape then will be able to track your
internet-activities. (dutch source)

Open Netscape and click: "Edit" >"Preferences".
Navigator At: "Home Page" choose another website. Or choose at:
"When navigator starts up, display" the option "Blank Page".
History >Remember visited pages for the last 0 days.
If you don't want others to be able to see which sites you visited, you must click
"Clear location bar" at: "Location bar history" each time you visited the internet.
Smart Browsing
-Enable Internet Keywords disable
-Location Bar Autocomplete disable
Composer >Maximum number of pages listed: 0
Privacy & Security
Cookies Option: "Enable cookies based on privacy settings" enable
After that click "View" and in the following screen: "Custom". Make sure you get the following settings:

Cookie acceptance policy
First party cookiesThird party cookies
Site has no privacy policyRejectReject
Site collects personally identifiable information without your consentRejectReject
Site collects personally identifiable information with only your implicit consentSessionReject

Click "ok"
Ask me before storing a cookie enable
Limit maximum lifetime of cookies to: enable current session

Images Do not load remote images in mail & newsgroup messages enable
(So that you receive less "spam". You can still see pictures friends send you)
Popup window controls Depending on you Netscape version choose:
-"Suppress popups" enable. Ór:
-"Block unrequested popup windows" enable
Forms >"Save form data from web pages when completing forms" disable
Passwords
-"Remember passwords" disable
-"Use encryption when storing sensitive data" enable
Advanced >"Enable java" disable
Scripts & plugins
Enable javascript for
Navigator enable
Mail & newsgroups disable
Allow webpages to:/ Allow scripts to:
-Move or resize existing windows disable
-Raise or lower windows disable
-Hide the status bar disable
-Create or change cookies disable
-Read cookies disable
Enable plugins for >Mail & newsgroups disable
Cache >"Disk cache" 0 kb. Then click: "Clear disk cache".
Software Installation > "Check for updates:" disable

INSTALLATION NETSCAPE BROWSER


You never know which information is sent to Netscape when downloading
the browser. There is a way to work around this problem. This way
you also limit the chances for spionage.


-After downloading and opening the Netscape setup program, you see the install screen.
-In the screen "Setup Type" choose: CUSTOM. You may want to Click: "Browse" to
install in a different directory. (Click Next)
-In the screen "Select Typical Components" you can disable option: Mail & Instant Messaging
if you want. (Click Next)
-In the screen "Select Additional Components" disable: Quality Feedback Agent (Click Next 3 times)
-In the screen "Additional Options" disable: Make Netscape.com my home page and
enable Save installer files locally (Click Next and Install)
