Ciego de Ávila Province

CAI 515 Ciro Redondo

This mill is situated halfway the FCC-line from Morón to the city of Ciego de Ávila. From the mill a number of lines used to run into in all directions, opening up most the fields withing a radius of 20km or so from the mill. These radial lines were standard gauge.

Ciro Redonda has a large diesel fleet, amongst which only one TU7E. This locomotive with number 34041 has a green livery and has been spotted here every year between 1997 and 2006. Klick this link for a picture.

CAI 522 Venezuela

Like the Ciro Redonda mill mentioned above, this Central Venezuela also had an extensive and branched standard gauge network into the fields. Its lines even used to be connected to the netwoks of the adjacent mills at Baragua and Orlando González.

Two different TU7s have been noted here, shunting at the mill. In 1996 engine number 34041 was in service. The next year 34054 shunted around the mill.

meanwhile the mill has been closed, probably after the 2002-season. The cane of the surrounding fields is still being transported away by rail, though be it to other mills. But in 2004 these intermills were hauled by a diesel or a steam loco from Venezuela MPD. There is however no recent report of any TU7E working here.
