Nederlandse versieFirst day: From Decize to Cercy-la-Tour

From the Loire we navigate into the Canal du Nivernais. We are locked together with a Dutch boat but despite the efforts of the kids to make contact, the skipper pretends to be deaf.

We leave Decize by a terrain of industry containing all well known supermarkets and arrive in a wonderful landscape. At out left side a green hilly landscape ant at our right hand side the river landscape of the Aron. The Canal du Nivernais will follow this river.

We navigate on and arrive at a lock and see a sign with instructions how to handle the locks by. ourselves. When we do so, a lockkeeper turns up to help us all the same.

We moor in Cercy-la-Tour. Here the Canal du Nivernais and the river Aron are united for just some hundred meters. By means of black buoys the section of the canal is separated from the river. As I have moored and want to take water I notice that I left my connection nipple at the place where I tanked the last time. I thought there was already such a connection nipple on the water tap but now it becomes clear that Pepijn turned it on the tap. We are lucky to find an other size nipple here so we can tank anyway.

Today it was very warm. Therefore we had our lunch in the boat instead of outside. At the end of the day my mother, the children and I have a dive in the river water. The water is fresh but when you're in you get used to it. In the evening we see two turn-outs of the local fire brigade. The barracks of the fire brigade is at the opposite side and the brigade is alarmed by a siren. We can see the firemen coming from all sides, sprinting and racing.
