Tuesday September 4, 2001

We slept well, and came out of bed a little bit late. We have breakfast at the hotel and after this we drive to the Mount Revelstoke National Park. From the beginning to the top of the park is almost a half hour driving with a lot of curves, after which you arrive at an elevation of 1900 metres. On our way we got some brochures about all kinds of encounters with animals in the forest like bears, cougars, elks Remko at Mount Revelstoke National Park
etc. If you read all the story's you never step out of the car again...But we didn't get scared and walked a small trail. We made a lot of noise to scare off the bears (that's what the book tells!). It was very cold at the top, especially if you only wearing shorts! Our hands were frozen and we didn't see any wildlife at all. Quickly we step into our car and this time our heated seats were very useful :-)
We drive a little further away to walk the Boardwalk Skunk Cabbage trail. The trail takes about 10 minutes. Remko and Hans descended to the river with the help of a rope. Oh yes, this time it was very useful. After this 'excitement' we walked the Giant Cedars Trail which was a little bit further on. This trail brings you along many 800 years old Redwood cedars which was very impressive. We visited the Revelstoke Dam on our way back, but this was a little bit disappointing. After we arrived at the hotel we took a dip into the heated indoor pool to warm up. At night we went to the same restaurant as yesterday, but this time we took a pizza. Although it tasted very well, it was a bit too big for us. At night Hans came over to take a bubble bath, and of course we made some pictures of it...
Meanwhile we are going to bed, Hans knows the way out!
