Mt Revelstoke National Park The park is situated in the neighbourhood of Revelstoke and takes up an area of 260 km². The Mt. Revelstoke Summit Parkway brings you via a 27 km winding road to the highest point of the mountain at 1830 metres. This road was created after inhabitants of Revelstoke made a footpath to the top in 1908. In 1914 the territory was declared National Park. At the insistence of the local inhabitants, the provincial and federal government began with the construction of a paved road which was ready by 1927. At the top of the mountain you have a wonderful view at the Selkirk- and Monashee Mountains, where you can walk all kinds of trails. The “Meadow in the sky trail” is a short walk of 1 km but certainly worthwhile. Along the way you can see the so called “Icebox”. This is a big crack in a rock which is covered by snow all year round.

Skunk Cabbage Trail This 1,2 km long trail is situated 28 km east of Revelstoke. The wooden path runs through a swampy area in which beavers, muskrats and different kinds of birds live. It owes its name to the stinking North American marsh plants (Skunk Cabbage) which grow there.

Giant Cedars Trail
Just like the Skunk Cabbage Trail, this trail is also situated in the Mt Revelstoke National Park. The path runs along great cedar trees of which some are more than 800 years old. This trail is to be found on Highway 1 in the east of the park.
