It wasn't easy, but at 5:30 AM we are awake and at 6:15 AM we are all sitting in the car ready for 'bear watching'. Along the way we see some elks and finally on the way to the Athabasca Falls (93A North) we see a BLACK BEAR......
Quickly we get our cameras and drive a little backwards, where after the bear is walking deeper into the forest. He was eating leafs nearby the road. We shoot a film of this happening but unfortunately it was too dark to take some pictures. We go on to Mount Edith Cavel. A very bumpy road brings us to the lake which was a little bit disappointing. The sun didn't shine and it was pretty cold (-1 degree Celsius).

We drove back to Jasper for breakfast and after that we set off to the Maligne Lake. Just when we were walking round the lake, suddenly a moose approached us! It was a very big animal. Because he felt somewhat hunted he swum across the river. This meeting with the animal was a splendid sight, especially if you know Moose walking in the Maligne Lakethat they are very shy. We rent a rowing boat to row on the lake. At first we wanted a canoe, but they didn't have a canoe for 3 persons. After rowing for 1½ hour in the sunshine we get back into the car on the way to the Maligne Canyon. During the drive we see some mountain goats, which were totally not shy at all! We walked a trail at the Maligne Canyon. The swirling water through the canyons was very impressing. Unfortunately we made mistake! The trail wasn't a walk round but ended at a totally different parking place. We had to walk all the way back. According to the signs we had to walk for 55 minutes to get back but the men thought they could do it faster. And indeed, 25 minutes later we arrived puffing at our car!

We are driving back to Jasper and get a pizza from Pizzahut which we eat at Hans room. Next we take a dip into the swimming pool and finally we go to sleep.
