| Breed description The Cane Corso is one of the classical Mastiff type,, who doesn't have the loose skin of the related "Mastino Napoletano". Because of his tighter skin, he drools less then the Mastiff type, who has looser lips. He is a fine guardian of home and hearth, loyal to the family and with a common sense towards against strangers. He is can get along very well with children and other animals, unless he has a good socialization ( this is important for every dog). He is reliable and sportive. Instinctively, he knows when to bark (protective but not aggressive) if a situation is unknown to him. Dominate can sometimes occur but with a good socialization you can keep this under control and seldom leeds to problems. The breed is healthy and hard for themselves. He has a stable character. The exercise he needs is average. They are not excessive energetic.In one word, an ideal house dog, who also does well outside and can easily go for long distances walk, provided you give your dog a good training. General appearance: Medium dog, strong build, but elegant, with powerful and long muscles. Colour: Black, lead-grey, slate-grey, light fawn, stag and red and dark fawn, brindle ( stripes on a different shades of black and grey), fulvo, in fawn (sandy) coloured and brindle dogs, the black or grey mask on the muzzle should not go beyond the line of the eyes. A small white patch on the chest, on the tips of the feet and on the bridge of the nose is acceptable. Weight: Males: 45 to 55 kg. Females: 38 to 45 kg. Height: Males: 64 to 68 cm. Females: 60 to 64 cm. Tolerance of 2 cm. more or less.
