World wide initiative for early childhood care
The Third International Conference on Early Childhood
"Dignity of the Small Child"
20th - 24th July, 2004
Järna, Sweden
Organised by a working group of the International Association of Waldorfkindergartens whose members represent the US, Germany, Sweden and Denmark, this year’s conference will embrace the topic of a young person’s dignity and focus on the development of a child’s sensory and motor skills during the first three years of life. A provisional conference programme is given below.
We welcome the participation ofcaregivers working outside the home who are interested in or working from an anthroposophical perspective. We hope also to encourage wide multilingual and multinational participation, with the lectures and workshops conducted in single language but translated into many others.
The change from holding the conference in Donarch in October to Järna in July coincides with the wish to make the conference truly accessible to all regardless of income or work commitments. Our hope is to make it possible for caregivers and nursery-school teachers working alone or in small groups to use their summer break to attend. And through funds collected from Waldorf Kindergartens in more privileged countries, we aim to support their attendance financially.
Can you help?
Please help the organisers to make this event open to all regardless of origin or financial means. We request donations to cover the travel expenses of those who need it most. Support from every Waldorfkindergarten, however small, is welcome and will allow us to achieve the aim of a diverse participation. We understand that times are hard, but hope that you can work with us to contribute to the conference through fund raising, Christmas bazaars and collecting donations through your kindergarten.
Thank you.
