Holliday 2001
The first holiday wasn't a holiday to rest. Because we had the boat just one couple off month and we hat not that much time to practice to navigate with the two motors. Also locks we hadn't ever had.
Still with our friends (Thomas and Korry) on holiday. We had agreed to begin quietly. First The Dintel and then the Biesbosch, the Bergse Maas and then the Zuid-Willemsvaart direction Maestricht.
This went unfortunately not through. Worthy our boat is situated in
Dinteloord, and the people there found that we are able enough to take the
Wilhelminakanaal . We just get the fire baptism. The one lock after the other
lock. I did not count the navigate ours but the locks and bridges we had en witch
yet to come. Fortunate my husband is very quit who the tense takes and not has
yell at me. The first lock we took went oke. With specially thanks to Thomas and
Korry. They went before us into the lock and told us
from their boat what we were obliged to do . But our boat is 13.50 meter and
my captain didn't hear what they are saying. Stain yours suggest , you
navigate for the first time into a lock, the nerve I had. We had much too many
fenders. We just had 4. Before we went into a lock I didn't know which side
the fenders must hang. At the time when i understand I had to hang the fenders
from the one to the other side meanwhile I had to listen to Thomas because he
told me what my captain with his motors had to do , witch one straight ahead and
witch one backwards and how the steering wheel was obliged to keep . I was on the
front deck listing what Thomas said, 13 meter backward rush to my captain
to tell him what Thomas said, run 13 meter to the front to hear what Thomas said and
again 13 meter backwards to bring the message over. I have run some kilometers on our Trojan. And
meanwhile I had to try to get the boat to the side sure within throw . Afterwards
we had a dreadful laugh . I think the persons which we recline in the
lock had thought, what
one doings yonder. But it went oke. Nearly all the locks went oke. Only in the 2the
lock we were nearly transversed. That came
because I had understood, when you have the boat assure you keep him tight . So I had the
boat hang onto ashore and began to wander
the string, but so hard, that the reverse side went off shore. And Thomas
and Korry yell "release that boat El, release the string", But I was so pleased that I had him
assure until my captain yell at me, release that string, I
can get the backside ashore. Then I understood. You put the string to the bollard toss and
then release until the boat is alongside and then hold fast. It should be better
when I (my
captain had yet sometimes one boat of 11,50 meter but with 1 motorcycle)
at first precisely was informed what they expected from me what to do in the
locks.
They also had a lot off fun, that I always run with the fenders
and the rope back and forth. The first thing we have bay is extra fenders and extra
long rope . This is one holiday we never will forget. We had very many laugh, very
much time spend in the engineering room because the motorcycle not was willing to
start , a lot off navigate and little seen from the surroundings because I had
the hole time the nerve, be afraid of the next bridge off lock.
Still next
year again with the boat on holiday. Sometimes will it get used.
I don't gif up.
